Becoming a DSA Driving Instructor
The DSA (Driving Standards Agency) require that anyone wishing to train as a Driving Instructor has no more than 6 penalty points on there license, have held a valid full UK license for at least 3.5 years and meet the physical criteria required to safely control a vehicle. All you need is a willingness to learn as all the training you require is provided as part of the course.
The ADI qualifying tests.
The qualifying examination is in three parts:
- Theory (part one) - a multiple choice section and a video-based hazard perception section.
- Driving ability (part two) - an eyesight test followed by a practical test of driving technique.
- Instructional ability (part three) - a practical test of your ability to instruct.
You must pass all three parts of the examination in this order and must complete the whole examination within two years of passing the theory test (part one). This will ensure that your training is structured and that the information gained from studying for the theory test is still relevant when you qualify. There is no limit to the number of attempts you may have at the part one test.
You are only allowed three attempts at each of the practical tests - parts two and three. If you do not pass in the three attempts, you must wait until the end of your two-year period before you can start again, beginning with part one. The two-year period cannot be extended for any reason.

This includes
- ADI Part One Training - 3 hours
- ADI Part Two Training - 10 hours
- ADI Part Three Training - 40 hours
- All training is on a one to one basis. Unlike some other companies Focus Driving Instructor Training does not believe you should share your sessions with other people
This course includes all your training, on a one to one basis, all training reference manuals, CDs and books. The only additional costs are the DSA exam fees.
Payments can be made by cash, cheque, credit or debit card. We also offer a 'pay as you go' scheme - an initial payment of £400 followed by payments on day of instruction.
